  1. Gastric tube and nipple feedings
  2. Bathing
  3. Assists parent(s) with getting infant in and out of crib/incubator
  4. Diaper changes and care of diaper area
  5. Capillary blood collection
  6. Blood glucose screening
  7. Measurement of intake and output
  8. Measurement of vital signs (HR, RR, temperature, blood pressure, and pulse oximetry)
  9. Documentation of patient care activities when performed
  10. Other activities as assigned by licensed personnel
  11. Keeps patients and their environment clean and safe
  12. Clerical duties as needed
  13. Stocking beds with needed supplies
  14. Cleans equipment as needed
  15. Other activities as assigned by licensed personnel
  16. Participates in continuous quality improvement teams and activities.
  17. Participates in supporting the organization’s vision, mission and values and adheres to DeKalb Medical Standards of Behavior.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of DeKalb Medical.


Minimum Education, Experience and Licensure Required:

·         High school graduate or equivalent.

·         Certified from a technical school as nursing assistant or have nursing school experience or previous experience as nursing assistant.

·         Certified from a technical school as a patient care technician.


Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:


  • Performs skills and competencies as defined in orientation checklist and annual departmental competency checklist if applicable.
  • Demonstrates and maintains competencies specific to patient population served.
